The company SGF/IMPREGLIO has in chrge, on behalf of Consorzio Venezia Nuova, the execution of geognostic tests at the Port Strait in Venice.
These tests are preliminar and necessary to the realization and final planning of mobile barrage aimed to defend the Venetian Lagon from high water level. This project is known as MOSE.
The tests will define the stratigrafic asset of lands involved into the mobile barrage works, the layer history and their geotechnic characteristics.
Works planned into the final projects are:
• drilling from 50 to 100 m depth
• penetrating tests from 50 to 100 m depth;
• geotechnic tests and laboratory analysis;
• sedimentology tests;
• geotechnic model layout at the end of inquiry.
These geognostic inquities are carried out using self-raising platforms.
Nautilus, as shipowner of self-raising platforms, has been appointed as operator and handler of all marine yards. To execute the geognostic campaign the following platforms have been used:
SEP-ONE: made of SOILMEC units, mt 21,00 x 12,00, arranged to perform continuos cartaggio tests usig WIRE-LINE technology (first picture above).
For this purpose the soundinfg line "Nenzi Gelma 3 has been installed, which operates through a hole set up in the middle of the platform (second picture above)
SEP 3: made of SOLMEC units, mt 9,00x9,00x1,5, arranged to perform drilling tests. The first drilling machine to be set up was "Gouda", of 20 Ton, equipped with a point ENVI, linked to the computerized acquisition system "Geoprinter", that guaratees correct vision of geotechnic parameters, in order to determine securely representative cohesive levels to carry out wastin tests: in a secodn phase a drill "SAME PUNTEL PX 850" has been instaled, operating through a hole in the platform, to execute geognostic tests with equivalent methodology execeuted on platform SEP-ONE.
